I have a lot of thoughts 🤔

House of Gucci is a movie centered around the Gucci family, and specifically focuses on Maurizio Gucci and Patricia Reggiani's (played by Lady Gaga and Adam Driver) tumultuous relationship. People who watch House of Gucci to learn more about fashion might be disappointed. The movie is not a story about how Patricia and Maurizio changed Gucci. Instead it is a story about how Gucci changed Patricia and Mauricio.

Throughout, the movie pays homage to Gucci's most iconic items (like the Jackie and Diana Bag), and shows Tom Ford's debut 1995 collection. Despite this, I don't consider House of Gucci to be a "fashion movie." It's a love story that highlights themes of manipulation and betrayal, where fashion is merely in the background.

The. House of Gucci movie features a star studded cast including, Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Al Pacino who all gave believable performances. But my favorite performance was by Jared Leto who played Palo Gucci- Maurizio’s lovable and hilarious cousin. The House of Gucci movie is very serious and dark, so Palo’s character gave much-needed comedic relief throughout the movie.

Even though the movie has received tons of backlash over the past few weeks for being dry and mundane, I actually found it quite entertaining. I ended up watching the movie twice and enjoyed it both times. In my opinion the movie is dramatic and scandalous, and is the perfect movie to watch if you want to learn more about the Gucci Family. But just a warning, you might feel the sudden urge to buy the Jackie bag after watching (LOL).
